    KP Announces Life Insurance Scheme for the Entire Population

    One of the most notable projects approved is the Life Insurance Scheme, which will provide financial security to the entire population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a life insurance scheme. 

    The aim of the scheme is to support families by offering life insurance coverage, with beneficiaries getting between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh on the death of the head of the family. This program is an important social security initiative after the successful implementation of the Health Card Scheme.

    Establishment of Islamic Takaful Insurance Company

    To ensure the sustainability of the life insurance scheme and health card initiative, the provincial government plans to set up its own Islamic Takaful Insurance Company. This initiative will enable the government to effectively manage insurance schemes in accordance with Islamic principles, and ensure that the programs benefit the population of the province in the long run.

    Solarization Program for Low-Income Households and Government Buildings

    The Solarization Program is another major project aimed at transforming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s energy consumption. The initiative will focus on providing solar power units to low-income households and converting government buildings to solar power. 

    In the first phase, 65,000 eligible families will get free solar units. In the second phase, an additional 65,000 solar units will be provided to households in convenient installments to promote the use of renewable energy across the province.

    Construction of Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway as Trade Corridor

    Construction of a major infrastructure project, the Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway, has also been approved. This 365 km long motorway will serve as an international trade corridor, connecting 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab and Balochistan. The project aims to expand trade routes and improve connectivity within the region, which will significantly boost the province’s economy.

    120 km Long Transmission Line to Support Local Industries

    For further industrial development, the provincial government will construct a 120 km long 220 kV transmission line from Swat to Chakdara. The line will supply electricity to local industries at affordable rates generated from hydropower plants of the provincial government in Swat and nearby areas. The completion of this project is expected to generate an annual revenue of Rs 54 billion for the provincial government, which will give a much-needed boost to industrial development.

    Launch of Homestay Tourism Scheme for Remote Areas

    To promote tourism in the remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the government has approved the Homestay Tourism Scheme. The initiative aims to encourage tourism in lesser-known areas while creating employment opportunities for local communities.

    Establishment of Debt Management Fund for Financial Stability

    The government will create a debt management fund to ensure better management of the financial affairs of the province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be the first province in Pakistan to establish such a fund, which will focus on improving financial management and reducing dependence on external debt. The aim of this initiative is to create a more stable economic environment for the province.
